| Ok decided it has been a little to long to not have written something, so here we go. The next to last weekend in April found me in OKC for the college's graduation. The Lord blessed and everything went nice and smooth other then a view caps that were so small for the students, but we made do and got things working. It was nice to see friends again and spend my Sunday with Paula & Robert Greenlaw, because my flight didn't leave until late and that was a blast. We just ate breakfast for lunch, chatted and chatted. It was wonderful. The last weekend of April I was in San Fran for a short weekend with my friend Katie. We stayed at the Hotel Metropolis and had a grand time other then the fire alarm going off, but it got us a $25 discount, plus a free room in another hotel this fall, so I didn't mind. We spent the Saturday with Isaiah Mays just bumming, eating wonderful french toast from the Baker's Bistro and taking lots of fun pics. Then the first weekend of May found me in MI for a medal ceremony for my decease Grandpa Dickie. Unbeknowest to us, until summer of 2002, on October 20, 1944 my grandfather landed a B24 bomber belly up safely on a beach in Italy saving all the lives of the crew. He ended up a POW, which we knew about, but not about the safe landing. Back then a pilot would receive the Distinquished Flying Cross after completely their 50th mission. This crash landing was my grandfather's 50th mission. As I mentioned above it was until summer of '02 that we found out about this when one of the crewmen contacted my grandma about it. My grandfather had been mums the word about it. So through the efforts of Hank (the crewman) my grandfather was finally given this award in July '06, which should've been granted to him after the war, but got missed. Along with that metal he also received 3 other ones and this May was the first time we could finally get the ceremony planned. It was incredible. Things were quiet for a couple weeks after getting back from that then last Wednesday after work I headed to LA for a meeting at the State Bar office on Thursday morning. I wasn't excited about driving by myself, but ended up having a very good, traffic free trip. I stayed at the lovely Marriott in downtown LA. Got to take a bath in a tub as long as I am tall, ate a lovely dinner at an Italian place a couple blocks from the hotel. They had the BEST bread ever. Can't wait to go eat it again. Ran into a guy that I used to work with 11 years ago when I was at the health food store. He was really into Star Wars and was actually there for a Star Wars conference. It was very cool. Then Memorial Day weekend I went and spent with my friends Karla and Jer. My flight was a little delayed, but got a $25 coupon out of it. Saturday found us eating lunch at Panera bread. Yummy:) Then headed to the apartment changed and headed to Ruston Way to met up with my dear friend Sarah Easling Lee and her baby Elijah. We ate at Anthony's which is a place right on the water and that was yummy. Then we walked around some with me holding Elijah, of course:) Then we took Sarah home and I got to met her other little boy Sam and see her hubby Adam again. I hadn't seen them since their wedding 4 years ago this month. Then Sunday found us sleeping in, finally getting around and headed to Seattle. We got down there, found parking and paid to go on the underground tour. We had time before the tour started and we were hungry, so we found a little place to eat. I ad this cool french toast that was cooked like normal french toast, but had crunchy cereal on the outside and a wonderful latte. Then we went on our tour. It was so cool a MUST if you ever go to Seattle. I learned alot about Seattle that I never knew. Then when we got done with the tour we headed to Pike's Market. It was getting ready to close, but we got to see some of it. It is WAY, WAY cool. I LOVED it. Got a wonderful strawberry and nutella crepe, got to see the FIRST starbucks, hugged a big brass pig that was a piggie bank. After we got done at Pike's Market we headed home to have Bubble tea (very interesting stuff) a must try at least once in your life. Then had barbeque and french fries for supper and watched a chic flick. Slept in yesterday morning, made overn pancakes for breakfast and lattes and just talked and talked for a couple hours. Then it was time to go. It was a great relaxing trip. Thanks for the wonderful time Kar and Jer luv ya bunches Tomorrow Anna arrives, so may update later, as that will be first day of her two month trip here. Photos can be viewed on my facebook or myspace. Will get the WA pics up soon. Luv me |
